Hippie with a Benz – Cafe’ Patachou
December 31, 2011 § 1 Comment
We tried to go to the Indy Winter Farmers Market this morning, but turns out they were closed this week and last for the holidays. Whoopsie!
But we had an hour and a half on our parking meter, and we were already downtown, so we walked the few blocks over to Cafe Patachou for breakfast – split a Hippie with a Benz omelette with some cinnamon toast and yes.
There’s not much left to say about Cafe Patachou, really. It’s an Indy staple with dozens of rave reviews on Yelp! and has been written up in various magazines like Indianapolis Monthly and Bon Appetit, and I even think Rachel Ray went there once and tipped horribly like she always does.
There’s not much bad to say about Patachou either, except maybe people complain about price (~$10 per plate + tip/taxes), but they’re just cheap bastards. If you want to spend $5 on an omelette there are greasy spoons for that that don’t use fresh, local ingredients. And anyway, you can easily split their meals between 2 people unless you’re greedy, fat, and/or starving. I split the Hippie with my wife, and even with tip we dropped only $15 and both went away sated and happy.
I did notice they don’t use Oxford commas on their menus, but that’s easily overlooked by the swank ass typography. That’s all I got.
